Gearkeun is a consignment marketplace for motorcycle gear: helmets, jackets, gloves, boots. Almost everything listed is consigned and stays its owner's until it sells, and we only take a commission when it does. A small number of items are Gearkeun's own stock, and those are always labelled "Sold by Gearkeun".
Indonesia's used gear market runs through chat groups and general marketplaces, where helmets are sold with no mention of SNI certification and no production date. A helmet's service life is roughly five years regardless of how it looks, and one that is past it looks exactly as good as one that isn't. We built Gearkeun so that information cannot be left out.
The buyer pays exactly the price the seller listed. We never mark an item up, and every screen that shows a price to a seller shows the breakdown with it.
The buyer's money is held until they confirm the item arrived and matches. If it doesn't, nothing has moved anywhere yet.
Every helmet shows its SNI certification status and, where a production date was given, an estimated service life with a warning when it is near or past. We still list older helmets, clearly labelled, rather than quietly.
Front, back and side photos are required before an item can go live. The slots for a close-up of the wear and for the SNI label are always offered but never demanded, because half of used shells no longer carry a legible label and an unmarked jacket has no scratch to photograph. The rules that are required are enforced in the database, not just in the form.
The payment gateway fee is shown separately and paid by the buyer. It is not commission and does not reduce the seller's payout.
